Kayla Clayton, a New Jersey native who relocated to the Washington DC area, died on Oct. 10 at 31 years old.
A cause of death was not listed, however, her obituary on the Lawson Funeral Home website notes that Kayla "fought a good fight."
Kayla Felice Clayton, who was raised in Long Branch where she was a high school cheerleader, went on to attend Virginia State University, where she graduated with her bachelor's in psychology, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Friends and family are mourning the loss of Deangelo Moore, a father and entrepreneur who was gunned down in Prince George's County after making painstaking efforts to turn his life around after some trouble with the law.
Early on Wednesday, Oct. 3, police say that District resident Moore, 32, and Derrick Graham, 41, were shot in what his family described as "a senseless act of violence" in Oxon Hill.

Anna Diederich, a medical student at the University of Virginia, died on Oct. 9, after suffering a medical emergency, her obituary says. She was 24 years old.
Anna was born in Alexandria and went on to graduate magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame in 2021, with a degree in chemical engineering, according to her obituary on the Adams-Green Funeral Home website.
She worked at the Oakcrest School in Vienna, where she had graduated in 2017, as a class dean, cross country coach, and math teacher.

Francisco 'Yogi' Somarriba Of Fredericksburg Dies On 50th Birthday
Francisco Somarriba, of Fredericksburg, died on Wednesday, Oct. 4 — his 50th birthday.
A GoFundMe page launched for his children, 22 and 24, says Francisco was affectionately known as Yogi, and will be remembered for his "charisma, generosity, kindness, cooking skills and easy going [demeanor]."
"Today was his 50th birthday and the day that God has called him to return home."

Former VA Football Captain, Paratrooper Addison Cadang Dies Days Before 22nd Birthday
A paratrooper in the US Army, former standout football player, and associate member of a Virginia fire department, Addison Cadang, died days before turning 22.
Addison Cadang, a US Army soldier, died while stationed in Fort Liberty, NC on Sept. 21. He would have turned 22 on Oct. 8, his obituary says.
A spokesperson for the 82nd Airborne Division, where Cadang was assigned, said that he died of injuries suffered in a vehicle crash in Fort Liberty.
