Trooper Picking Up Dinner Saves Restaurant Patron's Life In Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A Connecticut State Police trooper was in the right place at the right time Thursday night when he saved an elderly man from choking at a restaurant in Bridgeport.

Trooper List from Troop G in Bridgeport was picking up his dinner from Vazzy's Restaurant in Bridgeport at around 7 p.m. when an elderly man approached him signaling that he was choking and could not breathe, state police said. List immediately radioed Troop G to request an ambulance, then performed the Heimlich Maneuver on the man.

List was able to successfully dislodge a piece of meat from the elderly man's throat. AMR Ambulance arrived at the restaurant and evaluated the elderly man to make sure he was still doing alright. 

Ambulance personnel and the restaurant manager praised List for his immediate action to save the man's life.
