Ruth Dyckman, 91, Peekskill Volunteer Gardener

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – Ruth C. Duff Dyckman, a lifelong Peekskill resident, died May 13. She was 91.

Dyckman belonged to Peekskill Presbyterian Church for many years. On Oct. 23, 1942 she married William T. Dyckman at the church. He predeceased her in 1997.

A member of the Federated Garden Club of Peekskill for 67 years, Dyckman was recognized by the U.S. military for 36 years of volunteer gardening as a member of the Constitution Island Association.

She is survived by a son, Warren (Beverly) Dyckman; a daughter, Christine (Michael) Attardo; a sister-in law, Jean Duff; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at E.O. Curry Funeral Home in Peekskill. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Peekskill Presbyterian Church, followed by burial at Hillside Cemetery in Cortlandt.
