New Committee Members Appointed To Mount Vernon City Council

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – Mount Vernon City Council President Roberta Apuzzo recently appointed new members to the council's standard committees.

Apuzzo’s committee appointments are as follows:

  • Finance and Planning: City Council Acting President Pro Tem Marcus A. Griffith, chair, and Councilwoman J. Yuhanna Edwards, co-chair. The Finance and Planning committee supervises not only the city’s budget including tax revenues, but also the Mount Vernon Public Library and the Doles Cultural Development Center.
  • Human Resources: Councilwoman Deborah Reynolds, chair, and City Council President Pro Tem Richard Thomas, co-chair. The Human Resources committee is also responsible for civil service, health and human welfare, human rights, Memorial Field, recreation, Senior Citizens Affairs, the Veterans Service Agency, and the Youth Bureau.
  • Legislation and Public Works: Thomas, chair, and Griffith, co-chair. The Legislation and Public Works committee also supervises charter revision, city property, inspector general, Law Department, management services, Mayor’s Office, office of the City Clerk, Parks, Railroads and Bridges, and the Water Department.
  • Public Safety and Codes: Edwards, chair, and Reynolds, co-chair. The Public Safety and Codes committee supervises the Police and Fire departments, buildings and code enforcement, civil defense, consumer affairs, the parking authority, pet control, and zoning.
