MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – The search is still on for Leroi Bouche, who is accused of injuring a Yonkers investigator in Mount Vernon during a hit-and-run on Friday morning, June 6.

Bouche, 27, was on East Lincoln Avenue at approximately 7:30 a.m., when the investigator approached him, intending to question him about a pending case. The suspect then sped away, striking the investigator, who had to be treated for non-life threatening injuries at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx.

The investigator was a 14-year detective with the Yonkers Police Department assigned to the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office. The hit-and-run sparked a massive manhunt involving county police, local police and the NYPD.

The manhunt forced several schools, including ones in Tuckahoe, Pelham and Mount Vernon, to go into their lockdown procedures.

According to police, after running down the detective, Bouche hit several parked cars before abandoning his vehicle and fleeing on foot. He has yet to be found, with reports indicating he may have gotten into another vehicle to make his getaway.

He is being described as a 6-foot-3-inch African American with an orange hat, blue jeans and yellow shirt. It is uncertain if he is armed, but he is described as “dangerous.”

This isn’t the first run in with law enforcement for Bouche, who has pending drug charges against him. He was arrested in 2009 in connection with the slaying of 19-year-old Shomari Knox, though he was eventually acquitted, and he also served time in prison for illegally confining his girlfriend that same year.
