Acting Westchester County District Attorney James McCarty announced on Tuesday that Ronald Long III, 29, was sentenced to 16 years in prison after being found guilty at trial of individual counts of first-degree criminal sexual acts and sexual abuse, both violent felonies.

According to McCarty, between Christmas Day on 2014 and New Years Eve in 2015, Long engaged in oral and sexual conduct with a 10-year-old female inside of the victim’s bedroom, with her younger brother looking on.

Long again victimized the 10-year-old on March 24, 2015, which sparked an investigation by the Mount Vernon Police Department. Three days later, Long was arrested and arraigned in Westchester County Court.

Both children - who were previously known to Long before the assaults - testified at trial, which eventually led to a guilty verdict last month.

Following his 16-year prison sentence, Long will be required to go through 15 years of post-release supervision. He will also be registered as a sex offender upon his release.
