State police serving a warrant issued in Danbury, Conn., arrested Joseph Porticelli in July, according to News 12, which reported that the 44-year-old is alleged to have threatened and stalked his ex-wife.
Porticelli, who has been with the Mount Vernon department for the past three years, was released after posting $5,000 bond, according to News 12, which reported that the department has since placed him on paid leave.
Porticelli joins Mount Vernon Police Officer Omar Kitson, who earlier this year was accused of firing a weapon during a drunken, off-duty rampage; fireire Lt. Omar Lanier, who last week was suspended for allegedly using Instagram to call for additional attacks on police after the shootings in Dallas; and former firefighter Henry-George Thomas – brother of Mayor Richard Thomas – who pleaded guilty in January to a charge that he illegally sold guns just blocks from his firehouse, according to News 12.
