MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- A homeless man was found dead on Monday inside an abandoned mobile camper at a business on Fulton Avenue, according to Mount Vernon Police Capt. Roy Hasting.
The man, who was known to frequent the camper on and off over the years, is believed to have died from natural causes, Hasting said.
"The owner would have him removed from time to time, this time we were notified of a foul odor coming from the trailer and found him inside deceased," Hasting said.
The man, believed to be between 55 and 60 years old, has not been identified, he added.
Hasting said there was no sign of foul play and that the body has been sent to the Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy to determine cause of death.
