Michael Ferguson of Ossining a police officer with the City of White Plains Police Department for 17 years, died Monday, Nov. 13, at the age of 43.
The department announced Ferguson's death on Monday on Facebook: "It is with sincere regret that the department announces the passing of Police Officer Michael Ferguson. Our deepest sympathies are with his family during this difficult time."
The department has not released a cause of death.
Ferguson, a former longtime resident of Sleepy Hollow, was born in North Tarrytown on April 30, 1974.
He graduated from St. Teresa’s School and Sleepy Hollow High School, and Westchester Community College.
In addition to working for the police department, Ferguson was also an active member of the Sleepy Hollow Fire Department and was a Life Active member of Union Hose Engine #2. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aires 1042 and the Knights of Columbus St. Elmo Council 318.
Ferguson, a member of St. Teresa of Avila Parish, loved hockey, playing for Sleepy Hollow High School and was an avid New York Rangers fan.
He is survived by his parents Gordon and Rosemarie Ferguson, and his brother Scott and his wife Shauna. He is also survived by his grandmother Theresa Ferguson as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home, 91 North Broadway, Tarrytown, on Thursday, Nov. 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be at St. Teresa of Avila Church on Friday, Nov. 17, at 10 a.m., with interment to follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
