The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert on Tuesday to Westchester residents regarding the residency of 69-year-old Hopeton Gordon, who has moved in Mount Vernon.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Gordon as a level two threat, which means he is at "moderate risk of a repeat offense."

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Gordon was accused of having sexual intercourse and contact with a 13-year-old girl who was known to him in June 2009. He was arrested by the Ramapo Town Police Department, convicted in November on a charge of second-degree criminal sexual act and sentenced to two years in state prison. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Mount Vernon City Police Department.

Gordon is under the supervision of the New York State Department of Corrections and Community. He is not permitted contact with his victim and must participate in substance abuse, alcohol and mental health counseling. He cannot operate a motor vehicle and cannot have contact with anyone under the age of 18 unless under the company of an adult. He must comply with the Sex Offender Registration Act and abstain from sexually enhancing drugs. Gordon is also enrolled in a polygraph program. His supervision is up in 2021.
