The city originally bought in 2013 for $750,000 including borrowing an additional $750,000 for restoration. Issues in the restoration have been cited from a lack of budget, inadequate labor as well as vandalism, according to lohud.com.
The latest deadline was set for September by Mayor Richard Thomas and is solely to finish work and open basketball courts and a pool to the public on the first floor and basement. The contractor originally committed to opening in June, according to lohud.com.
