Mount Vernon Urges Residents To Fill Up Cars Early

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. - The Mount Vernon Office of Consumer Protection recommends residents have a full tank of gas before Hurricane Sandy hits the city sometime between Sunday and Tuesday.

A press release from the Office of Consumer Protection said Hurricane Irene knocked out several gas pumps when it hit last year delaying gasoline deliveries in some cases. The office also will be monitoring local gas prices to prevent price gouging and potential contamination caused by excessive amounts of water.

Residents can contact the Office of Consumer Protection at 665-2433 if they have any consumer-related questions or concerns before and after the storm.
