MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. The Mount Vernon Office for the Aging is launching the first of a six Living Healthy Workshops on Friday, July 27.
Each session will focus on different ways the elderly can improve their lives by making healthier decisions.
"There are many seniors with diabetes and other kinds of ailments that will benefit from these workshops by learning how they can make healthier choices in their everyday lives," said Geri Christiana, director of The Office for the Aging.
Christiana, who has headed the agency for 11 years, says she has done the same program at other locations, including Sarah Lawrence College. She said she plans to have each session feature a different group of seniors because she would like "the program to appeal to many different backgrounds and demographics."
The free workshops will take place Aug. 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 and run from 9:30 a.m. to noon. They will be held at The Office for the Aging, 144 N. 5th Ave., Mount Vernon, on the first floor. For more information, visit the Office of the Aging's website .
