The effort, also a partnership of the Food Bank for Westchester’s Mobile Food Pantry, will offer a variety of fresh, healthy food options for Mount Vernon families needing assistance, according to a press release.

Options will include dairy products, meat, fresh fruit, and vegetables.

“This is an opportunity for our school district and Junior League to join forces to help eliminate hunger in our community,” Adriane Saunders, chairwoman of the Mount Vernon City School District’s wellness committee, said in a press release.

“All too often, our neighbors may not have the means to feed their family and may not know where to turn for help. This is our chance to say there is help out there. We are here for you.”

The food pantry will be from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Parker Elementary School, 461 S. 6th Ave., Mount Vernon.

Advanced registration is encouraged; this helps volunteers ensure enough groceries are available for families in need.

For more information or to register, visit the food distribution’s survey website, or call Rick McCormack with the Mount Vernon City School District at 914-665-5235.
