McIntyre and his family have called Mount Vernon home for over 12 years. Not long after his arrival, McIntyre familiarized himself with the City by getting involved as a Democratic district leader and board member of the Urban Renewal Agency. He also remains active on the boards of Westchester County Crime Stoppers and the Westchester County Homeowners’ Coalition.

McIntyre embarked on a formative career in public service immediately following his graduation from Siena College (B.A., history/magna cum laude), having first served as a higher education program coordinator for former Gov. Mario Cuomo and subsequently as press secretary and community liaison for a congressman whose district comprised parts of Queens and the Bronx.

Thereafter, McIntyre entered the financial services industry, where he had worked for nearly two decades as a business development and client relations director representing investment banks, asset management firms, hedge funds, pension plans and municipalities.

He pledges to work with the library board of trustees on the following priorities:

  • Support MVPL in its quest to provide robust educational programs for Mount Vernonites of all ages, including literacy training, mentoring, author forums, and professional development workshops.
  • Maintain the highest of standards when it comes to the budget process and operations, helping taxpayers realize a substantial return on their investment.
  • Facilitate relevant and meaningful collaboration with local organizations whose missions directly or indirectly complement MVPL, including chambers of commerce, historical societies, colleges/universities and business associations.
  • Run a dedicated outreach campaign to increase patronage by the city’s North Side residents, many of whom frequent other libraries due to a lack of familiarity with all that MVPL has to offer.

The election for the open trustee seat will be Tuesday, June 2,  in the library’s Grace Greene Baker Community Room. Voting hours are from 7 a.m.-9 p.m.

In the next few weeks, McIntyre encourages MVPL patrons and Mount Vernon residents to drop him a note c/o seanmac4MVPL@gmail.com to convey any pressing questions or concerns.
