The storm chance lasts through the weekend as there's a chance of rainfall each day.

The storm system is heading to the region from the deep south and downpours from those storms will break the back of the extended heat wave, according to AccuWeather.com.

There could be enough rain to ease abnormally dry conditions as cloud cover and the downpours associated with the storm system will bring temperatures down from the 90s to the 80s.

Heavy rain is expected to arrive, along with possible thunderstorms, Friday with rainfall amounts of between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Friday's high temperature will range from 78 to 80 degrees.

Saturday will be mostly sunny during the day with a high around 85 with a chance of rain and thunderstorms in the evening.

Sunday will be mostly cloudy with a high around 80 and a 50 percent chance of rain during the day and evening.
