Tractor-Trailers Get Stuck In Snow After Violating Interstate Travel Ban

Despite a ban of all tractor-trailers on all major thruways, several drivers waited for state police to leave I-84 in the East Fishkill area and then became stuck in the snow, according to state police.

I-84 was closed due to stuck tractor-trailers.

According to Trooper AJ Hicks, multiple truck drivers waited until State Troopers stopped writing tickets and then snuck onto the I-84 and became stuck.

"We (the State Police) stopped writing tickets because it became too dangerous, and that's when the drivers snuck onto the highway," he said.

After calling for help, the roadway had to be closed until tow trucks could arrive to remove them from the highway, Hicks said.

State Police are reminding all motorists to stay home if possible and that all commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailers, are banned from most thruways.
