Man Shot In Newark: Police A man was shot in Newark on the early morning of Friday, April 5, authorities said. At 3:28 a.m., police responded to Astor Street near Pennsylvania Avenue on a report of a shooting, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said. Officers were advised a man had arrived at University Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound and is in stable condition, Fragé said. Warren County Sex Offender Who Assaulted Teen Girl Arrested For Failing To Register: Cops A 54-year-old Bridgeton resident was arrested on Thursday, March 21 in Warren County after he failed to register as a sex offender, authorities said. James Alston was also wanted for violating a lifelong parole order, Independence Township police said on Facebook.  In 1995, Alston was found guilty in Sussex County of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl he lured with alcohol when he was 25 years old. Car Strikes Utility Pole On Route 519: Njsp A car crashed into a utility pole on County Route 519 in Hunterdon County on the evening of Tuesday, April 9, authorities said.
