Westchester Football Players Will Make College Commitments On Signing Day

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- High school football players from Westchester County are expected to confirm their college choices for Wednesday's National Signing Day.

Among the top prospects in New York are Iona Prep's Qadir Sheppard and Archbishop Stepinac's Brandon Coleman.

Sheppard, an outside linebacker, is expected to commit to Syracuse. Sheppard is the sixth-ranked prospect in the state by 247sports.com.

Coleman will make his commitment to Navy official. He played most of the time at quarterback last year for the Crusaders, leading them to a 12-1 record. He rushed for 611 yards and eight touchdowns, and also threw for 11 more. Coleman, who stands 5-feet, 10-inches and weights 165 pounds, will be an all-purpose player for Navy. He is the 19th ranked prospect in the state.

Other Archbishop Stepinac players who plan to sign on Wednesday are Dwayne Scott, Sacred Heart University; Gavin Heslop,  Stony Brook; Damarcus Miller, Stony Brook; and Malcolm Major, who made his choice last night. 

New York's top recruit is Manlius tight end/defensive end Tyrone Wheatley Jr., according 247.com. He has not made an official commitment.
