Previously, Belfiore held the position of director of athletics at Bronx Community College. He currently serves as assistant regional director for men’s sports for Region XV of the National Junior College Athletic Association and he was community college vice president of the City University of New York Athletic Conference.

He has served on several national boards and governing committees of the NJCAA.

“I am looking forward to making our athletics program stronger,” said Belfiore. “I intend to enthusiastically support our scholar athletes, both on and off the athletic field, with new resources including specialized study halls.”

Belfiore also plans to initiate the college’s first intramural sports program.

WCC President Belinda S. Miles said Belfiore's background will be very helpful.

“As the college enters a new era of service and success, Michael’s extensive experience will be invaluable to the college and our student athletes. His background in elevated positions at the regional NJCAA level and with the CUNY Athletic Conference, his role in serving on NJCAA national boards and governing committees, and his reputation as a high quality athletic director in the community college environment will serve us well,” she said.

Belfiore also served as the associate athletic director and assistant track and field/cross country coach at Hunter College for five years. His responsibilities included supervising the recreation, intramurals and fitness programs, athletic compliance, special events and advising the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

Belfiore, who is starting in this position immediately, replaces Larry Massaroni who retired earlier this month.
