PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- Pace University football has added four new coaches to its staff.
The new coaches are include Conor Gilmartin-Donohue (tight ends), Eric McCarthy (running backs), Stephen Gruber (defensive line) and Robert Maffei (wide receivers).
Gilmartin-Donohue played for White Plains High School and was a three-sport standout in football, basketball and lacrosse. He went onto play at the Division I level with stops at Northeastern for three seasons and North Texas for his senior year. Gilmartin-Donohue returned to his alma mater in 2011 as an assistant coach for the White Plains football team.
McCarthy has served the past four seasons on the Plymouth State coaching staff, worked with the quarterbacks, wide receivers, tight ends and linebackers with the Panthers. He coached a pair of all-conference linebackers on a defense that was sixth in the nation in total defense. Prior to Plymouth State, McCarthy was a student-assistant coach for the University of Connecticut staff.
Gruber served as the JV coach for the Mount Pleasant School District in 2013. He was the defensive coordinator and special teams coach for the JV squad, and also assisted with film breakdown and game planning for the varsity teams. Prior to Mount Pleasant, Gruber was the assistant JV coach for the Katonah-Lewisboro School District, and worked with the linebackers and wide receivers in 2012.
Maffei comes to Pace after working on the Central Connecticut State University staff for the past three seasons in a variety of roles. He was the director of football operations from 2011-13 and he organized recruiting and coordinated team travel. He was the defensive quality control coach in 2011, and he analyzed the opponents' offense and created weekly scouting reports. He worked as the wide receivers coach in 2012 and 2013 and added special teams coordinator to his duties in 2013.
