Hutcherson will receive the award at USTA Eastern’s Tennis Conference on Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Renaissance Hotel in White Plains.

“It’s a real honor being mentioned with some of the past recipients,” Hutcherson said. “It’s always an amazing thing when you receive an award for something you really enjoy doing. It makes it very special.”

Hutcherson, who recently retired from working for the Eastern Section, currently works as the director of tennis at the Jerry Alleyne Foundation. He co-founded the organization in 1999, as he enjoys providing children with the opportunity to play tennis.

“Giving back to the community and working with young people has always been a passion of mine and I already developed a love for tennis so it was a perfect fit,” Hutcherson said. “When you see the growth and development of kids, not just as tennis people, but as kids, it’s really rewarding.”

Through his successful work with kids, Hutcherson has coached two teams to Junior Team Tennis Nationals, winning one championship. Hutcherson also plays tennis competitively through USTA Leagues and played on ten teams one season.

“The best part about playing leagues is the competitiveness and camaraderie,” Hutcherson said. “The friendships I’ve made and the traveling I’ve done have been remarkable. I can’t imagine my life without tennis.”

The Eastern Tennis Conference is an annual event hosted by USTA Eastern, the United States Professional Tennis Association and the Professional Tennis Registry. The three-day event features professional training, informative workshops and award receptions.
