Mount Vernon Resident Is SUNY Cobleskill Basketball MVP

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – Mount Vernon resident Tyrone Mitchell was named the Most Valuable Player on the men’s basketball team this season, the SUNY Cobleskill Department of Sport and Exercise announced.

The six-foot, two-inch senior guard averaged 13.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.1 steals per game in his 24 appearances. He shot 42.8 percent from the field and hit 23 of 65 three-point attempts.

Mitchell scored in the double figures 17 times for the Fighting Tigers while notching one double-double. He was honored with his MVP award at the SUNY Cobleskill annual Athletic Awards Convocation earlier this week.
