The two-day high school tournament kicks off at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, when Christ the King High School takes on Brentwood High School. Later that evening, Benjamin N. Cardozo High School, the tournament’s defending champion, will play Mount Vernon High School.

The tournament’s championship game will be played at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, directly after the consolation game.

SNY, the official channel of the New York Mets and New York Jets, will make donations totaling more than $20,000 during the tournament to participating high schools, according to a statement from the channel. Since 2008, SNY has contributed more than $325,000 in total to area high schools. The program also has touched 70,000 youth ballplayers from 170 local communities and parts of Pennsylvania.

“Mount Vernon would like to thank SNY for including us and for all its hard work in running a great tournament,” said Mount Vernon head coach Bob Cimmino. “It is good to be back again following a five-year hiatus, and we hope for a successful tournament.”
