MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – Mount Vernon point guard Josh Doughty kept his verbal commitment, and has signed his letter of intent to play basketball for Northwood University on a full scholarship.
The 5-foot 10-inch guard averaged a team-best 13.6 points, five assists and four steals for Mount Vernon. He officially signed his letter of intent at a reception for him in the city. Doughty is expected to play point guard at the next level.
Doughty won’t be the only resident of the lower Hudson Valley playing ball for the Seahawks. He will join White Plains’ Ra’Shad, who is transferring after playing as part of an NCAA National Tournament team at Iona College.
The pair will play for coach Rollie Massimino, who has turned Northwood into a perennial winner, compiling a record of 171 wins against just 37 losses – good for an .822 winning percentage. He led the Villanova Wildcats to the 195 NCAA Championship and has nearly 700 career wins.
