Torre, who won four World Series managing the Bronx Bombers, is part-owner of Hillosophical, a four-year-old mare racing at Yonkers Raceway Tuesday night in a $100,000 race.
Hillosophical has four wins in 26 career starts, including a victory over the Yonkers half-mile oval on April 11.
Torre has owned several Thoroughbred racehorses, including Homeboykris with former Yankees bench coach Don Zimmer, who won the 2009 Champagne Stakes at Belmont Park, Wild Desert, winner of the $1 million Queen’s Plate in 2006 with former NHL player Keith Jones, and Game On Dude, who was the 8-5 favorite in the Breeder’s Cup Classic in 2013 and finished 9th.
A nine-time All-Star as a player with the Braves, Cardinals, and Mets, Torre is the only major leaguer to achieve both 2,000 hits as a player and 2,000 wins as a manager.
