MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. Mount Vernon's Hooperstown Sports Complex will host its first annual "Ball Till You Fall: The Tri-State 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament" from Oct. 19-21, featuring teams from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut in a fundraiser to benefit Mount Vernon High School basketball programs.
The event will include as many as 400 players on 100 teams in separate male and female divisions. Teams will play in age groups and will include players from grade school through high school and adult divisions. The event is open to all comers.
Registration is $125 per team before Oct. 1, and $150 afterward.
Mount Vernon High School basketball programs have had legendary success in New York state and nationally, sending more than 200 players on to colleges throughout the country. The boys' basketball program has produced 15 NBA draft picks, including Gus and Ray Williams, Rodney and Scooter McCray, Ben Gordon and countless European Basketball professionals. The Knights boys program has won nine New York State High School and five Federation (parochial, private, public and New York City schools) championships.
