Fitness Classes Offered In Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. - The Mount Vernon Department of Recreation is holding various fitness classes for residents throughout the city.

The Doles Center, at 250 S. 6th Ave., is offering group fitness classes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays  at 6 a.m. for the early risers and at 7 p.m. for the after-work crowd The classes, which are free for gym members, involve a certified personal trainer to teach people the correct way to work out. Non-gym members are welcome for a cost at $15 per month.

For those looking for a more intense workout, a one hour "Boot Camp" will take place every Saturday morning at 7 a.m. at the Doles Center. A certified personal trainer will be on hand to push participants to the limit. The cost is $5 per month for gym members and $15 per month for non-members.

Over at the Mount Vernon Armory, at 144 N. 5th Ave., instructor Marie Russo will hold yoga classes on Wednesday evenings from 7-8:15 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring a pillow and a mat. The eight-week session costs $70.
