The UBC is a Mount Vernon-based clergy group, and it is supporting the bond referendum. The vote on the $108 million bond, called "Education Vision 20/20," will be on Tuesday, March 15.
The bond includes infrastructure needs, including roof and window repairs, as well as program supports, like upgraded science labs. For a more detailed run-down of the goals for the bond from the school district, click here.
"(W)hile the bond that's going out is $108 million, 75 percent of that will actually be reimbursed by the state," Schools Superintendent Kenneth Hamilton said, as reported by The Journal News. "This is a really unique opportunity."
