MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – Residents in Mount Vernon can come out on Tuesday to cast their votes on the proposed 2013-2014 school budget and for board of education candidates.

Incumbents Delia Farquharson, Rosemarie Jarosz and Marc Stuckey are being challenged by a trio of newcomers and three candidates that saw their bids for election fall short.

Kathie Brewington, Serigne Gningue and Adriane Saunders are familiar faces that will be on the ballot for a second straight year. Rookies Chanese Coleman, Geraldine Lorde and Cynthia Turnquest-Jones will run for the first time.

Polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at all public school buildings in the city.
