Mt. Vernon Schools Set Workshop For Parents Of Special Needs Children

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Mount Vernon parents of children with special needs who are entering kindergarten this fall are being invited to a workshop hosted by the Committee on Special Education.

The workshop is set for 10 a.m. – 12 noon Friday, April 15, at the Mount Vernon City School District Education Center (board room), 165 N. Columbus Ave., Mount Vernon.

Parents can learn about their child’s educational rights and services and supports that are available.

The committee will also discuss its roles and responsibilities.

Leading the workshop will be Suzanne Peretz, director of the Lower Hudson Early Childhood Direction Center; and Chrisanne Petrone, outreach coordinator for Hudson Valley Special Education Parent Center.
