A survey has been posted online that is asking residents, both parents of students and non-parents, what characteristics are most important for the school district’s leader.
According to the district, “Now is the time to develop a process by which a search can be designed an implemented for the purpose of finding a permanent superintendent. Before we begin, we are seeking input from the public to hear their opinions on how the trustees might best proceed with the search.”
Once the survey is complete, Johnson and the Board of Education will hear from the public before whittling the field to a handful of finalists. The finalists will then enter a series of interviews with district stakeholders before the next superintendent is chosen.
The search is necessary after Johnson was hired on a one-year contract last year to replace interim Superintendent Waverline Bennett-Conroy, who was serving in place of suspended Walton Sawyer. She announced last year that she would remain in the position for one more year before riding off into retirement.
