Mount Vernon Students Take Farmingdale State College Tour

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – Twenty-eight seventh-grade Mount Vernon City School District students and parents involved with the NYGEAR UP program recently took a trip to Farmingdale State College.

The May 31 visit featured students attending classes with professors and a chance to meet other students involved with the program.

The Mount Vernon students came from Pennington, Graham and Longfellow Middle School, with more slots available for future visits.

The NYGEAR UP program stands for Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs, and focuses on trying to give children more opportunities to succeed once they get to post-secondary education.
