Mount Vernon Schools Staffing Rises 13.5 Percent, But Still Has 42 Openings

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Mount Vernon School District has 42 open jobs, but they also increased their number of employees by 13.5 percent last year, according to Lohud.com.

At the end of last year, the district had 1,995 employees, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Denise Gagne Kurpiewski told the Board of Education during a recent meeting. But despite the increase, the 42 open positions are hard-to-fill positions that require specific qualifications, said Lohud.com.

Schools Superintendent Kenneth Hamilton, added that was still plenty of interest in the district's vacant positions, but that the challenge was the standards required for the jobs, said Lohud.com.
