Mount Vernon Schools Host Meeting On Gifted, Talented Programs

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – The Mount Vernon City School District will host a series of informational sessions about the Elementary School Gifted and Talented programs for students in grades K – three, as well as the Performing Arts Magnet Program designed for kids entering the sixth-grade.

Sessions will take place at the Lincoln Elementary School at 170 East Lincoln Ave., on Nov. 13 from 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m.; and at the Longfellow Elementary School at 624 Fourth Ave. on Friday, Nov. 14, from 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Both programs will commence during the 2015-16 academic year.

Admission to the Elementary School Gifted and Talented programs will require an assessment and will grow to enroll students in grades K-6.

Admission to the Performing Arts Magnet Program will include an assessment and an audition in dance, music, theatre or the visual arts. The Arts Magnet Program will grow to include students in grades six - 12.
