MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – Due to the severe weather that has befallen the region this year, schools will have to be open during the first few days of spring recess, the Mount Vernon School District announced.
Schools will be open March 25 and March 26 as a make up day for all students. Additionally, the Parker School will be open March 27 because it was Jan. 2 for an emergency. Superintendent's Conference Day has been postponed until June 25 for all faculty members.
David Stark, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said more inclement weather is possible. Historically, snow has fallen in the region through March.
“The likelihood becomes less as we head into the end of the month,” he said.
