MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Students in Mount Vernon High School's Eco-Classroom are seeking a $20,000 grant to fund a Food to Table Initiative, a project devised to better serve the school community and community at large.
The garden would offer fresh produce and an understanding of agricultural history.
By counteracting the influence of fast food, students and community members will learn about healthy alternatives, dietary lessons and nutritional values of food with a hands on approach.
The students need help to be awarded this grant. Grants are awarded based on community and school participation through voting for a favorite project.
