Mount Vernon Committee To Evaluate School District

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – The Mount Vernon Board of Education is asking local residents to get involved with the affairs of the school district with the creation of the School Restructuring Committee.

Under the guise of the School Board of Trustees, the committee will work to establish district-wide goals and determine how to best allocate resources. Education models will be evaluated and potential improvements will be discussed.

The committee allows city residents to join a community-wide effort to analyze the school district and establish goals for education, excellence and equality throughout Mount Vernon schools.

The School Restructuring Committee will allow stakeholders to study how model districts have managed to successfully educate diverse groups of students while meeting modern needs and standards.

Those interested in joining the School Restructuring Committee can fill out an application on the district website. Applications must be returned to the Mount Vernon School District no later than May 31.
