MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- The Mount Vernon Amani Public Charter School will be closed Monday because of Hurricane Sandy, the district announced Sunday.
Three shelters were also set up for residents who suffer damages or lose electricity. The Longfellow School on South Third Avenue, the Armory on North Fifth Avenue and the Macedonia Community Center on the corner of Eighth Avenue and Second Street will all be available for residents in need.
