Mount Vernon Home By Early 20th Century Architect Hits The Market

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- A residence in the Aubyn Manor neighborhood of Mount Vernon, designed in 1905 by architect Otto J. Gette, was listed Monday. March 21, by Julia B. Fee Sotheby's International Realty.

Gette, of the early 20th-century architectural firm Marsh & Gette, was the president of the Westchester Society of Architects and a member of the New York State Association of Architects. He utilized the farmhouse motif and drew upon the Pennsylvania Dutch style in the design of the home. The architect also completed a significant expansion to the residence in 1929.

Gette was a prolific architect in the early 20th century, designing municipal structures from bathhouses to parks and pools for the City of Yonkers and Westchester County. He was also active throughout New York City and Northern New Jersey, working on diverse projects from garages and fire escapes to low income housing to luxury residential structures.
