2 Firefighters Injured Battling Blaze At Bridgeport House

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Two firefighters suffered minor injuries as they extinguished a house fire Tuesday night on Bradley Street, Bridgeport fire officials said.

Firefighters responded to a call reporting a fire in the area of Bradley Street and Kent Street at 5:30 p.m.

At the scene -- 258 Bradley St. -- firefighters found heavy fire on the first and second floors of the front of a home.

An occupant was reportedly inside, and firefighters performed a search of the house.

But no one was inside, and the occupant was located at a nearby residence.

Fire crews worked inside the house but were pulled outside for an exterior operation.

Once the fire was under control, firefighters returned to the inside of the building to extinguish the remaining blaze. It took about 30 minutes get the fire under control. 

More than 30 firefighters were dispatched to tackle the fire.

Two firefighters received minor injuries and were transported to Saint Vincent’s Hospital, where they were treated and released.

There were no injuries to any occupants, but two people have been displaced because of the fire.

Electricity was shut off in the area temporarily to repair a downed power line because of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
