The Bridgeport Bluefish have announced the signing of infielder Eddie Rogers. Rogers joins the ‘Fish during his 15th year of professional baseball and second in the Atlantic League.

“It’s great to have Eddie back with our ballclub,” says Bluefish manager Willie Upshaw. “He was a great contributor to our team last year and we look forward to his help during this stretch run.”

Early this season, the former Major Leaguer spent time with Campeche of the Mexican League, appearing in 40 games and posting a .282 batting average with 20 RBI and 29 runs scored. Last year, he appeared in 132 games for the Bluefish and recorded a .283 batting average with eight home runs, 27 doubles, 67 RBI and 78 runs scored. The infielder made his Atlantic League debut with Bridgeport in 2009. The 34-year-old made his big league debut in 2002 for the Baltimore Orioles. He spent parts of three seasons in the Majors, getting the call again in 2005 and tasting big league action for a final time the following season with Baltimore. Eddie was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Baltimore Orioles on November 7, 1997.

In a corresponding roster move, the Bluefish have placed infielder Daniel Mayora on the reserve/retired list.
