Rose Marie Pace Barone, 94, Of Fairfield, Writer And Poet

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Rose Marie Pace Barone of Fairfield died Sunday, July 27. She was 94.

Barone was born April 26, 1920, in Buffalo, N.Y. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Buffalo in 1943, a master's from the University of Southern California in 1950, and a Certificate of Advanced Study from Fairfield University in 1963.

From 1943 until 1980, she was a high school teacher in Angola, N.Y.; Puente, Calif.; Lafayette, Ind.; and Bridgeport. She was an accomplished writer and poet. For her numerous achievements, she was recognized in Who's Who in America. She was also active in various community and charitable organizations throughout her life.

Barone is survived by a niece, Betty Jane Picciano, of Fort Mohave, Ariz.; and by numerous nieces and nephews of her husband. She was predeceased by her husband, John A. Barone.

Calling hours are Thursday, July 31, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield, officiated by the Rev. Charles Allen, S.J. Entombment will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
