Staples soccer players Max Hoberman and Taylor McNair will collect coats for the Mercy Learning Center of Bridgeport prior to the basketball game against Bassick Friday, Jan. 14. The game begins at 7 p.m. at Staples.
Hoberman, McNair and several teammates will be collecting children's coats, sizes 2-14, and women's winter coats. They will be distributed to the Mercy Learning Center, a Bridgeport organization that offers literacy and life-skills organization to women.
"This is a great example of seeing a need and responding to it," said Staples head coach Dan Woog. "Dr. [Gerry] Kuroghlian has been a longtime friend of the boys soccer program. We're happy to help him out, as he helps so many kids and women in need." Kuroghlian is a former English instructor at Staples.
