The 12-hour event will have volunteers sort through medical supplies donated from hospitals, health organizations, corporations and individual households in the New York-metro area and prepare them for shipment to African and Haitian hospitals.

Once destined for disposal in local landfills, these supplies will be diverted to people in developing countries who would not other have such access.

The Afya Foundation supplies critically needed surplus medical supplies, hospital equipment and humanitarian provision to hospitals throughout Africa and the Caribbean.  The Afya Warehouse in Yonkers serves as a temporary supply storage facility, where the supplies are sorted, inspected, boxed and packed for shipment by volunteers.
