Mount Vernon Board To Consider 11-Story Apartment Building

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. - A proposal for an 11-story mixed-use apartment building at 130 Mount Vernon Ave. will be before the city's planning board on Wednesday night.

Two weeks ago MacQuestin Development showed a model of the potential building to the Architectural Review Board. MacQuestin Development President Rella Fogliano said the company has no qualms about being the first to construct a building of that size in that neighborhood.

“We’re ready to move forward,” Fogliano said. “This is a gateway area. If we build it, they will come.”

The planning board will also hear from architect Nima Badaly who, on behalf of the owners of 15 S. Fifth Ave., is proposing to convert the current building into a mixed-use structure. Part of the application is for an off-site parking facility that can accommodate 23 cars.

Additionally, the planning board is being asked for a recommendation on whether the property of 105 E. Third St. can be used for municipal purposes.

The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall. Click here for the full agenda.
