MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Independent voters will have a chance to meet their candidates when the Mount Vernon Independence Club holds a meet and greet for the party candidates from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday.

The event, at the Cupcake Cutie Boutique, 8 South 6th Ave., will offer an opportunity to hear the candidates discuss the changes they believe are needed in Mount Vernon city government, regarding the economy, public safety, employment, services, more proactive with the board of education, youth and the issues that affect all of the constituents of Mount Vernon.

The Independence Party candidates said they have defined what change means and will highlight their differences with every voter who truly believes in a new beginning, that benefits everyone and not the usual politics that benefits only a few.
