“These gangs have no place in Mt. Vernon, nor should they feel comfortable in our City, nor work in positions of power," Thomas said. "The independent investigation by the MVPD was strategic and comprehensive, playing a vital role in removing a dangerous group of people from the streets.”

"We must do more to discourage young black men from throwing away their lives to crime. This is why it is important for Mount Vernon to create jobs so people have alternative, positive choices to succeed in life and be a contributing member of our community."

If elected, Thomas said improving public safety will remain a top priority for him.
