Early on Wednesday morning, Astorino’s campaign released a video claiming that the city supported his quest to be re-elected as county executive. The video, which runs just short of 90 seconds, includes testimonials from Rev. W. Franklyn Richardson, the senior pastor at Grace Baptist Church, Bishop C. Nathan Edwars and City Council Member Deborah Reynolds.

Bramson’s campaign countered with an 84 second video of its own, showing how the county executive handled a group of approximately 20 political enthusiasts who picketed, held signs and shouted at him when he arrived for his “Ask Astorino” town hall speech on July 15.

“If a picture is worth a thousand words, comparing these two videos should certain speak volumes,” Bramson campaign spokesperson Barry Caro said. “Rob can keep pretending that Mount Vernon is behind him if he wants to, but the people who live there have had enough of his extreme, right wing agenda.”

In response, Astorino's campaign spokesperson Bill O'Reilly said that Mount Vernon holds a special place in the county executive's heart.

"Mount Vernon is important to Rob Astorino. It was his home as a young child, and he's never forgotten that," he said. "He's proud of the work he's done to help the community and he's enormously grateful for the support he's getting from community leaders. We're going to fight for every vote in Mount Vernon. If Noam Bramson wants to stage protests while we're there, that's his prerogative."
