7 Face Off In Democratic Primary For Mount Vernon City Council

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – Mount Vernon residents voting in Tuesday’s Democratic primary election will see seven candidates vie for three open seats on the city council.

Candidates Yuhanna Edwards, Roberta Apuzzo Marcus Griffith, Maria Caraballo, Damon Jones, Damaris Mone and Andre Bailey will battle for the Democratic line.

Additionally, Rachelle Rocky Richard of Yonkers is running on the Independence ticket for the District 14 seat on the Westchester Board of Legislators.  Voters have the option of writing in a candidate for the District 14 seat, which represents parts of Mount Vernon and Yonkers.

The primary election will be held Sept. 10.

Polls for the primary election open at 6 a.m. and close at 9 p.m.  Check the Westchester Board of Elections website for information about polling locations.

This year’s general election will be held Nov. 5.
